VA and I were talking today and I mentioned how Perry was one of the best Hawks ever. VA said that he was in the top ten and it wasn't arguable. I thought that he could be but it would probably be debatable so I decided to do some research and put together a list of MY top ten Hawkeyes. Here's my list.

Tom Brands4,1,1,1
Tom was a 4X aa and 3X champ with a career record of 158-7-2. He ranks second and eigth in team history in season wins, second in career wins with 158, eighth in career pins with 46 and fourth in career win pct (.952). He also is tied for second with a 69 match winning streak. He was tied for the most hated wrestler of his era.

2 Ed Banach1,1,2,1
Ed was a 4X aa and 3X champ with a career record of 141-9-2. He ranks first in Hawkeye history in career pins with 73, fourth in career wins and ninth in win pct (.937).

3 Lincoln Mcllravy1,1,2,1
Lincoln was a 4X aa and 3X champ with a career record of 96-3. He is third all time with a winning pct of .970. He also owns a 56 match winning streak which ranks sixth in Hawkeye history. If not for one match Lincoln would probably be number one on my list. As good as he was he is not all over the record book like Brands and wasnt the pinner like Banach was. He was still very dominant and deserves at least number three on any list like this.

4 Barry Davis7,1,1,1
Barry was a 4X aa and 3X champ with a career record of 162-9. Barry ranks first in career wins with 162. He also owns the number one and four spots on the season wins list.

5 Jim Zalesky5,1,1,1
Jim was a 4X aa and 3X champ with a career record of 132-7-1. He ranks seventh in career wins, eighth in winning pct (.972) and owns an 89 match winning streak which ranks number one among Hawkeyes.

6 Joe Williams7,1,1,1
Joe was a 4Xaa and 3X champ with a career record of 129-9. I was not particularly a huge fan of Joes style but you cannot argue with his success. He ranks 10th in win pct (.935) and owns a 53 match win streak, which is 7th among Hawkeyes.

7 Brent Metcalf-,1,2,1
Brent was a 3X and 2X champ with a career record of 108-3. He only got to wrestle three years for the Hawks but he made the most of them. He ranks second in win pct (.972), seventh in career pins with 47 and owns a 69 match winning streak which puts him in a tie for second with Tom Brands. He was the most hated wrestler of his era.

8 Terry Brands-,1,2,1
Terry was a 3X aa and a 2X champ with a career record of 137-7. He is tied for fourth in season wins, fifth in career wins, sixth in career pins with 48 and fifth in win pct (.951). Terry had over 20 wins as a freshman but lost a late season wrestle off and did not get to wrestle in conference or NCAA tournaments. If he had he would surely be further up on this list.

9 Mark Perry2,3,1,1
Mark was a 4X aa and a 2X champ with a career record of 96-16. Some may say he should be ahead of Terry Brands and Metcalf because of his 2nd place finish as a freshman but his 16 losses and the absence of his name in the Hawkeye record books bumps him down a notch.

10 Duane Goldman2,2,2,1
Goldman was a 4X finalist and a champ once, with a career record of 132-10. His name is missing from the statistical record book like Perry's is but how can you keep a four time finalist off the list?
